Some hospitals reportedly near virus case capacity.
In the first ten days of November, more than one million new confirmed cases of the coronavirus were reported as all 50 states are seeing rising positive test rates. Health experts say that unless strict measures are taken to control the disease, the infections will continue to rise.
With Thanksgiving nearing soon, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued new guidelines, urging Americans to stay home and not to travel. And if there are gatherings, they want you to celebrate only with people in your household, and if you must include others, conduct your celebrations outdoors and in small numbers, continuing taking precautions like wearing masks and keeping your distance from others.
If attending a gathering, the agency recommends that you bring your own plate, cups, and utensils; store your mask safely while eating and drinking; avoid going in and out of the kitchen while food is being prepared; and use single-use options for condiments and food containers.
The CDC says “staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others. Travel increases your chances of getting and spreading COVID-19.”
Individual states have also released holiday guidelines, limiting the number of people who can gather and for how long. Massachusetts advised that “virtual holiday dinners with extended family and friends, especially if they are at higher risk for illness” should be considered.
